The Team

Built by people committed to closing
the gap.

Ampira was founded at the Unviersity of Arizona by two students who studied the barriers to hearing access and decided to create a solution.

How It Started

A straightforward question.

In 2026, we began examining hearing health as a system. The scale of unmet need was significant. The gap between clinical-grade solutions and what most patients could realistically access was immediately apparent. Existing products were expensive, clinic-dependent, and geographically constrained, built around a distribution model that excluded the majority of people who needed them.

We entered the UA Hult Prize competition with a single question: what would hearing care look like if you designed it from first principles for populations that have never had access to an audiologist?

We won the campus competition. Then we got to work building the answer.

Where We're Built

Rooted at the University of Arizona.

Ampira was founded within the W.A. Franke Honors College at the University of Arizona. We are planning to conduct our clinical validation study in partnership with the UA Department of Speech, Language, and Hearing Sciences, comparing Ampira-generated audiograms to gold-standard booth audiometry. We are proud to be building within one of the leading research universities in the American Southwest.
